OpsMgr Errors – DPM Mounted Disk Free Space Alerts

We run DPM, and it’s replication disks are generating a lot of free space alerts. I found a process on the forums to disable these in a sane way, but it would also disable the disk fragmentation checks.

Reference: Disk free space c:\program files\microsoft DPM\DPM

Instead, I modified the advice of a reply further down and created a group of only DPM replica disks.

  1. Operations Console -> Authoring -> Groups
  2. Create a new group
  3. Dynamic Members:
    ( Object is Windows Server 2008 Logical Disk AND ( Device Name Contains C:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes ) AND True )
  4. Check your group members, then Authoring -> Monitors
  5. Change Scope -> “Windows Server 2008 Logical Disk”, Search “Free Space”
  6. Override (disable) the “Logical Disk Free Space” monitor for a group -> target the group you created in step 2.
That should be it! Happy opsmgr’ing.
